NBC and FOX emphasized stability with the fall 2016 schedules they announced earlier this week. ABC is making some bigger moves.

The network’s lineup for next season includes one of its signature series, “Scandal,” waiting until early 2017 to premiere; an expanded Tuesday comedy block that features veteran “The Middle” moving nights; and new dramas on three nights of the week.

ABC is launching five new shows in the fall, with legal drama “Conviction,” starring Hayley Atwell, moving into the “Castle” spot on Mondays. “Notorious” gets the “Scandal” spot on Thursdays, and Kiefer Sutherland’s “Designated Survivor” goes to Wednesdays, where “Nashville” resided.
